THE METHOD

Learn the whole process, from measuring to pricing, taught from real jobs..

PLEATS 101

Start here.

Most designers can picture the drapery. What stops them is everything in between: how to measure it, what to send the workroom, what things cost, and what to charge.

Pleats 101 walks you through that middle part using the systems I use in my own window treatment business. Not theory. The actual process, including the parts nobody hands out.

What you learn

  • The language of the trade, so you can talk to a workroom without guessing

  • Measuring drapery, Roman shades, solar shades and cellular shades

  • What to send the workroom, and what comes back if you leave something off

  • Hardware, mounts and the details that decide whether it hangs right

  • Pricing and markup, so you know what you're actually making on the job

What comes with it

  • Self-paced video lessons you can watch on your schedule and pull up on a job site

  • The Pleats 101 field guide, with the charts, diagrams and measuring worksheets I use

  • My yardage calculator, for estimating before you order

  • Your guide to finding a workroom and drapery hardware

• Live Zoom the first and third Thursday, 10am Mountain, questions emailed by 5pm the Wednesday before.

PLEATS 102

102 goes deeper, and I'm building it from the questions 101 students send me. What comes up again and again on real jobs is what it will cover, rather than what I assume you need.

This is also where I open my book. My workroom, my suppliers, the people I've spent years finding and trusting. That's the part most of us keep to ourselves, and it's the reason 102 costs what it does.

What comes with it

  • My sources: the workroom and suppliers I use on my own jobs

  • A one-hour session with me, one on one

  • Email access to me for 60 days

  • A certificate on completion

I'm working on accreditation so the hours can count toward your continuing education.

101 students hear about it first.

PRIVATE CONSULTING
$8,000.00

For design firms ready to bring window treatments in-house.

Some firms don't want a course. They want me in the room.

This is one-on-one work with you and your team, on your actual projects, using my own sources and process. Three ways to do it:

Project consulting
Bring me onto a live project, in person or over Zoom. We go through it start to finish: the site visit, the measuring, the specs, the workroom, the pricing, the order. You watch how it's done on a real job, not a hypothetical one.

Studio training
You pick the designers on your team who should own this category. I teach them the whole process so the work, and the profit, stays inside your studio instead of going out to a specialist.

Intensive
Fly me to you. Two days of hands-on training with your team, followed by 90 days of access to me as your people put it to work on live jobs.

I take five private clients at a time, so the calendar is limited.

Starting at $8,000, depending on scope and depth of training.
